An exhibition of playable art by Dan and Dave. Decades of practice and study pressed on paper and packaged within a box for sale. The artists need the money.

Case Study is an experimental project that brings together an amalgamation of interests — from cardistry, architecture, and design to philosophy, cinema, and Japanese aesthetics. Keeping within the framework of traditional playing cards, the twins deconstruct and recompose 52 prototype back designs using their brandmark as a foundation. The result is an object of art for cardistry, magic, collecting, and everyday play.

The designs featured in Prototype form a visual archive, intended to guide and inspire future iterations.

The print quality on these is unreal—every card feels like a tiny gallery piece, and the tuck box alone is worth showing off. You can tell decades of study went into the design, not just the handling. Played a few rounds with friends and they kept asking where I got them.

I've been handling these cards for a while and the paper stock has this perfect flex that makes fans and faros feel effortless, almost like they were pressed with decades of practice baked in. The fact that they're playable art you can actually shuffle daily without worrying about wrecking them is a

The tuck box itself feels like a tiny gallery piece, and the card stock is so buttery that fanning them feels almost too easy. I’ve only had them a day but I keep pulling them out just to look at the back design. Worth every penny for anyone who appreciates playing cards as art.
